Custom Home Assistant builds designed around presence, not motion — so a room knows you are sitting still in it. Everything runs locally, on hardware in your house, with no dependency on a foreign cloud service that can change its terms or disappear.

The specialty

Presence, not motion

Most smart homes fail in the same place. A motion sensor sees movement, waits, and shuts the lights off while you are reading on the couch. Then you wave your arms at the ceiling.

Presence detection solves it properly. mmWave radar sensors detect that a person is in the room whether or not they are moving, and combining them with door, light, and occupancy inputs produces a house that behaves the way you expect instead of one you have to argue with.

The work is in the tuning. Every room has different geometry, different furniture, and different traffic, and sensors that are dropped in without calibration produce false triggers that are worse than no automation at all.

Custom hardware

Enclosures designed for the room

Presence sensors and wake-word microphones work best where they are least welcome — high on a wall, in a corner, in the middle of a ceiling. The bare boards they ship as are not something most people want on display in a living room.

We design and 3D print custom enclosures so the hardware disappears into the space instead of announcing itself. Housings are modelled around the specific board, sensor geometry, and mounting position, which also means the detection field is aimed where it should be rather than wherever the case happened to sit.

  • Ceiling, corner, wall, and flush mounts designed for the actual location
  • Color and finish matched to the room rather than to the vendor

Designs are modelled to order. If a build needs a shape that does not exist, that is a design problem, not a reason to settle for exposed electronics.

How these systems are built

  • Local first. Automations run on hardware in your home and keep working during an internet outage.
  • US-based or fully local services only. No routing your household activity through a foreign cloud.
  • Open platform. Home Assistant, so you are not locked into one manufacturer's ecosystem or subscription.
  • Predictable behavior. An automation that surprises you is a defect, not a feature.
  • Maintainable. Documented configuration, so the system outlives the person who installed it.

Typical work includes lighting and climate automation, presence-driven scenes, camera and access integration, energy monitoring, notification routing, and rescuing half-finished systems someone else abandoned.
